English: This illustration helps understand how an exact sequence of groups is formed. In the upper part, there is a part of an exact sequence how it is normally written. In the lower part, there is a representation in terms of Euler diagrams of the groups, the group homomorphisms and how their kernels and images are related. Namely, the image of an homomorphism is the kernel of the next homomorphism in the sequence .
