English: Tethered polymer chain within a polymer brush. The drawing shows the chain elongation decreasing from the attachment point and vanishing at free end. The "blobs", schematized as circles, represent the (local) length scale at which the statistics of the chain change from a 3D random walk (at smaller length scales) to a 2D in-plane random walk and a 1D normal directed walk (at larger length scales). This drawing was prepared with free software http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Inkscape
Français : Chaîne polymère ancrée au sein d'une brosse. Le dessin montre l'élongation de la chaîne qui décroît depuis le point d'attache et qui s'annule à l'extrémité libre. Les "blobs", schématisés par des cercles, représentent l'échelle (locale) de taille à laquelle la statistique de la chaîne évolue depuis celle d'une marche aléatoire à 3D (aux échelles plus petites) jusqu'à une marche aléatoire 2D dans le plan et une marche dirigée normale à 1D (aux échelles plus grandes).
