Summary

Description
English: Graph of specific heat at constant volume for dry air (Units: J/(K kg)) versus temperature (Units: K). Reference lines are drawn at (5/2) R_d and (7/2) R_d, where the gas constant for dry air is R_d = R/M_d for universal gas constant R = 8.314 J/(K mol) and dry-air molar mass M_d = 28.965369 g/mol. Numerical values are from the table at https://www.engineeringtoolbox.com/air-specific-heat-capacity-d_705.html. The sharp rise at lower temperatures is where nitrogen and oxygen liquify. At temperatures T = 140, 200, 220, 320, 360, 380 K, c_v = 718.4, 716.3, 716.3, 719.2, 720.6, 722.3, 724.3 J/(K kg). Because (5/2) R_d = 717.5 J/(K kg), c_v lies within 1% of (5/2) R_d for 140 K < T < 380 K.
