Parameśvara (1360-1455 CE), one of the foremost observational astronomers of Kerala was a disciple of Mādhava. He was a prolific writer with about 30 works to his credit. He was known for his continued astronomical observation for more than 50 years. He wrote commentaries on several astronomical works including the Āryabhaṭīya and Līlāvatī. He belonged to Alathur village of Kerala which was situated on the northern bank of rive Niḷā (Bhāratapuzhā).
