You can use this template to show that an article incorporates text from the first edition of ''[[Cyclopædia, or an Universal Dictionary of Arts and Sciences]]'' from the year 1728, which is now in the [[public domain]].

This template is a wrapper around {{tl|Cite Cyclopaedia 1728}}. In its default mode, it states that unspecified text in the body of a Wikipedia article is from an article in the first edition of the ''Cyclopædia, or an Universal Dictionary of Arts and Sciences''.

This template calls {{tl|Cite Cyclopaedia 1728}} that automatically sets some of the parameters passed, for example "publisher = James and John Knapton, ''et al''". Over and above the standard parameter passed into {{tl|cite encyclopedia}} there are some additional parameters and those are listed below in a separate table from the table of parameters passed into {{tl|cite encyclopedia}}.
