==Purpose==
Generates a citation and link for a word defined in the online edition of the [[American Heritage Dictionary of the English Language]].
== Usage ==
As with all reference notes, the template should be inserted ''after'' any punctuation, such as a period or comma. Also note that "AHDict", which redirects to the template Cite American Heritage Dictionary, may be used in its place for efficiency.

There is only one parameter:

<code>{<nowiki>{ AHDict |</nowiki> '''word''' <nowiki>}</nowiki>}</code>

* '''word''': Word that has been defined and thus needs a citation; a required parameter.

No support for page number is included as it is inappropriate for an online citation.

This produces:

and the following in the references list:

This produces:

and the following citation in the references list:
